We are currently looking for an experienced individual to fill the position of “Cook” at our restaurant Indraprastha Indian Cuisine Ltd.
Our restaurant, Indraprastha Indian Cuisine Ltd. is located in Scarborough Ontario, we focus on giving our customers an extraordinary and authentic dining experience with the best quality services. Our restaurant offers and specializes in South Indian Cuisine with a range of rich Indian spices that are blended in ever recipe. We are looking to add a unique and specialized cook to join our amazing team!
The candidate must be able to communicate in English and have a minimum of a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. The candidate must also have a minimum of one (1) year to less than two (2) years’ experience in a related restaurant position.
The tasks and responsibilities of the position include, Preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods. You will be tasked with preparing dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances. The candidate will plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies. You must inspect kitchens and food service areas, making sure they are well maintained. You will be in charge of training staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food, supervising kitchen staff and helpers, and recruit and hire staff. You will be in charge of ordering supplies and equipment, maintaining inventory and records of food supplies and equipment, and organize and manage buffets and banquets.
The ideal candidate must be able to work under pressure and pay close attention to detail. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle repetitive tasks. The job can be psychically demanding at times, as you will be standing for extended periods of time and you may be required to handle heavy loads.
We require the candidate to have experience and specialization in South Indian Cuisine specialties.
This is a permanent and full-time position requiring (37.5 hours/week) with an hourly pay of $20.00/hour. We are accepting applications from Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary residents of Canada. Indigenous people, Newcomers to Canada and youth are encouraged to apply as well.
